David P. Douglass, M.D.
Board Certified: Pediatrics
Medical School: Vanderbilt University School of Medicine
Residency: Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital
Dr. Douglass joined Cabarrus Pediatric Clinic in 1999 after completing pediatric residency and medical school at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.
Dr. Douglass currently practices full-time general pediatrics with a special interest in international adoption medicine. He is board-certified in pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). He is a member of the AAP's Section on Adoption and Foster Care and is in frequent contact with other experts in adoption medicine across the country.
Dr. Douglass' passionate interest in international pediatrics dates back to his first medical mission trip in 1999 to Ecuador. He has subsequently participated on medical trips to Peru and Haiti. In addition he has traveled in Guatemala and Russia.
In the fall of 2002 the Douglasses were blessed to adopt the youngest of their three children from Siberian Russia. Dr. Douglass has reviewed records from Russia, China, Ukraine, Estonia, Lithuania, Kyrgystan, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Republic of Georgia, Armenia, Poland, Guatemala, S. Korea, Vietnam, and Taiwan.

Hans S. Mah, M.D.
Specialty: Pediatrics
Medical School: University of Virginia
Residency: Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Cente
Dr. Mah, known by some as Dr. Hans, joined Cabarrus Pediatric Clinic in July 2002. He grew up in Ohio, went to school at Duke University, medical school at The University of Virginia, and trained at Brenner Children's Hospital at Wake Forest University before coming to Concord. Like others at our clinic (see Dr. O'Brien) he is a Duke basketball fan; but don't worry if you are a Tarheel fan; you'll still receive our best care. Dr. Mah enjoys his church life, playing guitar (but never took one guitar lesson), watching musicals, reading, traveling, working on his lawn (now that the drought is hopefully over), and 'exciting' nights playing Scrabble with his wife. His big news is that Dr. Mah and his wife welcomed the arrival of their first baby in October 2003. He now experiences the 'excitement' of sleepless nights, runny noses, and hours of crying (and of course the joys, laughs, and pride of being a parent, too). |

Stephen J. O’Brien, M.D.
Board Certified: Pediatrics

Residency: Vanderbilt University Medical Center
Dr. O'Brien joined Cabarrus Pediatrics in 1995. He is a graduate of Duke University and the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He completed his residency and a year as chief resident in Pediatrics at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.
Dr. O'Brien loves spending time with kids. It's a good thing he does, because as a pediatrician and the proud father of four children, he spends most of his waking hours with kids. He is active in the community-- coaching youth sports, teaching Sunday school and speaking out about issues that affect children. Away from, and occasionally in the office, his hobbies include basketball (he is a former Duke Blue Devil mascot), photography, and juggling - or as one of his young patients put it, "he's that doctor who jiggles."
Particular areas of professional interest include sports medicine, child safety, parenting, and nutrition. Dr. O'Brien also speaks fluent ''pediatric Spanish". He is a fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Christian Medical and Dental Association. |

Porter K. Peterson, M.D.
Board Certified: Pediatrics
Medical School: Brody School of Medicine,
East Carolina University
Residency: Wake Forest University
Dr. Porter Peterson will join Cabarrus Pediatric Clinic in July, 2008. She is a graduate of Davidson College and Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. She completed her residency and a year as chief resident in Pediatrics at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Dr. Peterson is a native of Concord and is so excited to be returning back home. In fact, you may recognize her by her maiden name, Porter Kelling. Dr. Peterson is married to a wonderful husband, Ben. They have one young son who provides tons of enjoyment for them everyday, but is growing up way too fast! In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, running and reading. She is a member of First Presbyterian Church and hopes to become involved more in the church and in community activities once she gets settled back into Concord life. Dr. Peterson could not have found a more perfect field to be in than Pediatrics as children are what have always brought her true happiness and make her so excited to go to work each day. She certainly looks forward to working with the many patients and parents that are a part of Cabarrus Pediatrics, as she was once a patient here herself!
