About Dr. David Douglass
Dr. Douglass joined Cabarrus Pediatrics in 1999 after completing pediatric residency and medical school at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Dr. Douglass currently practices full-time general pediatrics with a special interest in international adoption medicine. He is board-certified in pediatrics and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). He is a member of the AAP's Section on Adoption and Foster Care and is in frequent contact with other experts in adoption medicine across the country. Dr. Douglass' passionate interest in international pediatrics dates back to his first medical mission trip in 1999 to Ecuador.He has subsequently participated on medical trips to Peru, Haiti, and India. Dr. Douglass has visited orphanages in Ecuador, Peru, Russia, China, and India. In 2002, the Douglasses first experienced the blessing of adoption when they expanded their family to three children by adopting from Russia. In 2007 they were thrilled to grow to four children by adopting from China. These experiences spurred the launch and development of For the Children International Adoption Medical Services. Since 2003 Dr. Douglass has had the privilege of reviewing the medical records of over 500 orphans from over 20 countries and has cared for over 150 adoptees in clinic. Dr. Douglass has a particular interest in orphans and adoptees with medical special needs. |
